Hollow Orbit

"I don't fear endings. I just refuse to accept ones I didn't choose."

The Lamb

HollowThere are people who fear endings. Hollow does not.She has spent enough of her life watching things disappear to understand that nothing remains untouched forever. People leave. Promises break. Places become ruins. Flowers wither. Even the things we swear will last eventually become memories of something that once was. What interests Hollow is not the ending itself. It is what happens immediately before it. The last decision. The final hesitation. The moment fear becomes certainty. The instant someone realizes there is nothing left to hide behind.
That is when people become honest.
Hollow has always been a remarkably patient woman. She watches before she speaks. She listens when others would interrupt. She remembers things people have long since forgotten saying. A passing comment, an old promise, the name of someone they loved, the particular expression they wore when they thought nobody was watching. She collects these things quietly. Not trophies. Not exactly. Memories. Hollow has an almost reverent relationship with the things people leave behind. She believes that something does not truly disappear simply because it is gone. A person can remain in a scar, a story, an object kept in a drawer, a song someone cannot bear to hear anymore. To forget is, in some small way, to let something die a second time and Hollow remembers. She is capable of extraordinary tenderness. That is perhaps the most misleading thing about her. Hollow can be gentle with someone without hesitation. She can sit beside a grieving stranger, offer comfort without asking for anything in return and treat another person's pain with genuine care. She can also be cruel. Not because she is incapable of understanding suffering. Because she understands it very well. Hollow does not believe kindness and cruelty are opposites. They are choices. Tools. Consequences. Sometimes one is necessary. Sometimes the other is deserved. Sometimes neither is particularly important compared to the question she actually wants answered:What happens next? That curiosity is where the danger begins. Hollow has an unhealthy fascination with the boundaries people place around themselves. She wants to know what happens when those boundaries are tested. What remains when someone loses everything they thought they needed? Who becomes brave? Who becomes desperate? Who runs? Who stays? She does not always create those circumstances but she is not above giving them a little encouragement. She has never considered herself a villain. Villains, in her experience, tend to believe too strongly in their own righteousness. Hollow does not. She simply believes that her reasons belong to her. Her morality is not something she expects other people to understand and she has little interest in being forgiven for choices she has already made. She would rather be understood. Even if understanding her changes nothing.Hollow OrbitThe name Hollow Orbit came later. An orbit implies something at its center. Something important enough to hold everything else in its path. Hollow knows what it is like to lose that center. She knows what it is to continue moving after the thing everything once revolved around is no longer there. The strange thing is that she never stopped. She kept walking. Kept loving. Kept remembering. Kept becoming. The orbit remained even after the center became hollow. Perhaps that is what Hollow is now. Not an empty person. Not someone without feeling but someone who learned how to keep moving with the emptiness instead of pretending it wasn't there. And perhaps that is why she is so fascinated by endings, because every ending leaves a space behind. Hollow has become very good at living inside those spaces.Ask Hollow what she wants from the world and she may not give you an answer.Ask her what she fears and she may smile. Ask her what she remembers and she may surprise you. But ask her what she wants left behind when she is gone—and she will probably ask you the same question in return. The LambHollow is a Lamb. Not a title. Not an epithet. Not a metaphor. It is what she is.There is an undeniable softness to her kind—something gentle in their appearance that makes people instinctively underestimate them. Hollow has never been particularly interested in correcting that assumption.Because a Lamb does not need to chase. The Lamb waits. There is patience in that. Acceptance. A quiet understanding that eventually everything arrives at its appointed end.Hollow understands that better than most but she is not an especially gentle example of her kind. She learned early that softness does not mean harmlessness. She learned that something can be beautiful and still have teeth. And somewhere along the way, she stopped believing that accepting an ending meant she had to agree with it.That distinction has become central to who she is.Hollow does not fear endings. She simply refuses to accept every ending as inevitable.

The Scent: She tends toward subtle floral and nocturnal fragrances: lavender, rain, earth and occasionally something faintly bitter or herbal.
The Absence: For all the jewelry, ornamentation and carefully chosen clothing, there is something strangely empty about her overall presentation, as though every beautiful detail is filling a space that used to contain something else.

"When you're gone, what do you want left behind?"

IN CHARACTER RULES:

Do Not Touch: Hollow has a strict "no touch" rule. If you break it, you'll likely get stabbed. She will not apologize. Consent is important.
Personal Space: Hollow values her space. Standing too close, cornering her or crowding her will earn you a warning. Ignore it at your own risk.
Mind Your Business: She is not obligated to share her story, her past or the reasons behind her actions. Do not pry.
Respect the Warden: Questions about the Warden are not welcome unless she brings her up first. She will not tolerate disrespect toward her.
Don’t Waste Her Time: Hollow has no patience for empty chatter, lies or unnecessary games. Be direct or be gone.
Trust Is Earned: Hollow does not trust easily. Once trust is broken, it is rarely—if ever—given again.
Actions Have Consequences: Crossing any of her boundaries will have consequences. Not always immediately. Not always visibly. But always.
Remember This: Hollow may be gentle. She may be kind. But she is not weak. And she does not need anyone to complete her. Respect that or don’t stand near her.

Beautiful Smile: Her smile is genuine. That somehow makes it worse.

HOOKS

A Question of Endings: Hollow has an unusual fascination with what people want to leave behind. She may ask what someone would want remembered about them.
The Keepsake: She may possess an object connected to someone else's past—and may remember considerably more about its owner than she should.
The Observer: Hollow is an excellent listener and an unsettlingly perceptive conversationalist. She may notice things others overlook.
Morbid Curiosity: She is fascinated by the choices people make when placed under extreme pressure.
Beautiful Things: Despite her darker tendencies, Hollow has an appreciation for beauty, quiet places, old things, flowers, moonlight and objects with history.
The Warden: There is another person in Hollow's life whom she refers to as the Warden. She does not explain the title readily. Her story is her own.
A Dangerous Kindness: Hollow may offer someone genuine kindness at precisely the moment they least expect it.
A Bad Influence: She is perfectly capable of encouraging someone to make a terrible decision simply because she wants to know what they will do afterward.

RUMORS

"She keeps things belonging to the dead." Some claim Hollow collects small keepsakes from people who have passed. Whether these are trophies, memorials or something more personal is unclear.
"She knows when people are going to die." A few people swear Hollow has looked at them and somehow known. Hollow has never confirmed the rumor.
"She's killed before." This rumor is widespread enough that even people who have never met her seem to have heard some version of it.
"She's cursed." Some believe Hollow carries misfortune with her—that people and places tend to experience endings after she arrives.
"She doesn't mourn." Those who believe this have never seen her alone.
"She makes people disappear." Probably exaggerated. Probably.
"The Warden follows her." Others insist the opposite is true.
"She is the reason things end." Hollow finds this particular rumor amusing.
"She isn't actually as calm as she looks." This may be the most accurate rumor of them all.

DEATH & ENDINGS

Death is not her enemy. Hollow does not worship death, fear it or particularly seek it. To her, death is simply a boundary.
Endings fascinate her. She is interested in the moment when there is no longer enough time to pretend.
She watches for the final truth. Fear, love, anger, desperation, acceptance—Hollow is fascinated by what remains when someone realizes they have nothing left to lose.
She does not believe every ending is inevitable. Some endings are natural. Others are choices. Others are consequences.
She remembers the dead. Hollow believes forgetting someone is a second death. She would rather carry painful memories than allow someone to disappear completely.
She does not fear becoming cruel. What concerns her more is becoming cruel without purpose.
Her greatest contradiction: She accepts that everything ends, yet she is capable of becoming extraordinarily dangerous when she decides that an ending was not hers—or someone else's—to accept.

"I will be gentle. Until I'm not."
